Design of Hybrid Bonded/Bolted Joints II

Traditionally, composites have been joined using either adhesive or bolts. Both methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. In this project, we explore the possibility of combining both the joining methods and create a hybrid joint to maximise load transfer in the joint.

My specific thesis work involves modelling of a three dimensional finite element model of the hybrid bonded bolted joint to fully understand the various mechanism involved in load transfer and explore methods to maximize it.
